Steps for Wi-Fi Connection

  • STEP 1: Download and open the "GKU GO" APP and turn on the car camera.
  • STEP 2: Connect to the dashcam device's Wi-Fi (GKU_D600_XXXXX) using the phone's Wi-Fi settings and enter the password 12345678. (Turn off VPN, Bluetooth, and cellular data if necessary).
  • STEP 3: Add the car camera and app settings once the connection is stable.

Regarding the WiFi connection, we have the following suggestions:

  1. To use the wireless dash cam app's features, a stable Wi-Fi connection is necessary. If the connection is lost, most of the app's functions will be affected (similar to Bluetooth on cell phones).
  2. Normal dash cam front and rear video recording will not be affected even if the Wi-Fi connection is disconnected. You can continue to watch recorded videos as long as the dash cam power is normal.
  3. The Wi-Fi range for the dash cam is 3 meters (Remote monitoring is not available) and is only for connecting to the dash cam and the mobile application, not for accessing the Internet. To use cellular internet, simply disconnect the camera Wi-Fi. The dashcam will still record automatically without Wi-Fi.
  4. When using the "GKU GO" APP, please note that your phone must be disconnected from CarPlay/Android Auto, as both cannot be simultaneously connected to your phone.

This dash cam supports the detection of sudden bumps and vibrations(G-senor triggered) to lock the recorded file and prevent overwriting, provides enough evidence for tailgating accidents. Also you can also lock video by pressing the side button of the front dash cam for one second to lock the current video recording.

Parking Monitoring & Time Lapse

The car dash camera supports 24/7 parking monitoring with time-lapse mode. The parking monitor automatically records emergency videos upon detecting collisions. Time-lapse recording maintains continuous recording with minimal power consumption and a low frame rate, protecting vehicle from theft or vandalism. (NOTE: An extra Hardwire Kit is required for this feature, which we can provide upon request.)

Helpful Tips:

  • 1. When the SD card is inserted into the car camera for the first time, it needs to be formatted on the APP.
  • 2. If you are unable to format the SD card using the app, please format it to FAT32 on your computer first, and then format it again using the app.
  • 3. The dashcam requires a high-speed Micro SD card. Please choose a Class 10, U3 or higher speed card 32-256GB from deputable band.
  • 4. Single front mode (rear camera disconnected): 4K/2.5K/1080P, Front+rear mode: 2.5K+1080P/1080P+1080P.
  • 5. The dashcam package comes with a cigar car charger for daily power use, but doesn't include USB-C cables or a hardwire kit. If your car doesn't have a cigarette lighter socket, you can use a USB-C cable for power. Alternatively, consider using a hardwire kit for continuous power or 24-hour parking monitoring. Make sure the power source is 5V/2.5A or higher.

A1: A dedicated hardwire kit is required(ASIN: B0DCHVZLP3, Not included) to connect the car's fuse box. Please DO NOT USE any other third party hardwire kit. If you want to implement this feature, you may buy the hardwire kit separately or we can help upon request.

Q2: Dashcam APP ("GKU GO" APP) can't connect to WiFi? Why can't I watch the live video on the APP?

A2: Ensure to grant permissions for photo album access, location, WiFi, and cellular data when opening the app. Disable VPN, Bluetooth, cellular data, security software, and antivirus apps on your phone. Also, disconnect from CarPlay/Android Auto as they cannot be used simultaneously with the app.

Q3: Does the car battery run out if the dash cam light stays on after parking?

A3: Yes, if the dash cam light remains on after parking, it can drain the car battery over time. If your cigarette socket is permanently powered, you must unplug the dash cam. Alternatively, installing a dedicated wiring kit enables 24-hour parking monitoring with low voltage protection, preventing battery drain by automatically disconnecting when low voltage is detected. We can assist with this requirement if needed.

Q4: How to format the SD card?

A4: You can connect to the APP via the dashcam's WiFi, enter the APP and select camera settings, then click format. Or format the memory card on your computer and format it again on app.

Q5: I cannot connect the dash cam to my cellphone or format the card; it says the device cannot be found.

A5: Remove the card and reinsert it. Reset the dash cam by pressing the side button of the front dash cam for more than 5 seconds and reconnect to Wi-Fi with the default password: 12345678.
